The following week has not been good for Johnny Depp, one of the iconic character in industry. Depp has played Gellert Grindelwald, villain role in Fantastic Beasts franchise. Been shocked with court decision against Depp, Warner Bros. studio has decided to drop Depp from Fantastic Beasts 3.
Why Fantastic Beats 3 Got Delayed?
After the news was announced that court has declared Johnny Depp guilty in his case against Amber Heard. Studios like Disney and WB resorted to the decision of removing Depp from any ongoing projects. Disney removed Depp from Pirates Of Caribbean franchise and WB decided to remove him from Fantastic Beasts franchise.
However, WB isn’t only resorting to remove Johnny Depp from franchise, they are going to recast his role of Gellert Grindelwald. This means that they have to find a new leading villain for the franchise so take the role of Gellert Grindelwald. That’s the reason that has caused Fantastic Beasts 3 to get delayed. It’s announced that Fantastic Beasts 3 will be releasing in 2022.

After been delayed for so many times in past years Fantastic Beasts has yet been delayed again for 2022. Due to departure of the main villain of the franchise Johnny Depp(plays Gellert Grindelwald). However, it was WB who asked Depp to take step down from franchise and Warner Bros. later announced a statement regarding Johnny Depp departure.
Warner Bros. full statement was: “Johnny Depp will depart the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date. Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The film will debut in theaters worldwide in the summer of 2022.”
Although, with the recast of the iconic villain Gellert Grindelwald the franchise won’t be that same as previous movies. As Depp has a gravity to his character, no matter which character he portrayed. And no recast of him can fill the shoes of his character in FB3. It’s already can be seen on social media platforms that Depp fans aren’t happy with WB’s decision. They have created a petition with has been signed by half a million people so long, and they have also came out with decision to boycott these movies.
However, it would be remarkable if Fantastic Beasts 3 get good review from audience. As with lots of going on on screen and off screen it’s getting difficult for the movies so land to 2021. But it we have waited for it for so long, hopefully it will be up to the mark.
